I've googled one, and it bloody well is an Ascona :)

Same as this Vauxhall Cavalier (albeit with a different front).

How sad is that? I can identify the chopped up rear end of a car I'm not particularly interested in, finished production before was born and I've only seen maybe one or two in my life.
